I love tarot cards and divination. This painting is based on the King of Swords archetype, from the normal tarot deck, which was an energy I was resonating with during my early 2018 Australia trip.

It’s about having a healthy level of emotional detachment. Moving away into his own space, so that he dosnt become a “Wounded lion” who hurts others because he is hurt himself.

The King of Swords is a rather unemotional character, who’s energy I welcomed at the time of painting him, to balance all the deep emotions I was having. He focuses on the practical aspects of life and cuts from people who don’t give him the honor he deserves. He doesn’t mean to be hurtful, Love is always there, but he has to act from a place of inner truth and personal integrity.

He reminds me I’m doing fine by respecting my challenging path over comforting myself or others. Sometimes it is healthy to keep your energy for yourself. This selfish world tends to take more than it gives and one has to know when to make a stand for oneself. I also added an awesome super blue blood moon that I witnessed on mushrooms those days, cause it really helped me in my process of empowerment.

But in general, he has reminded me to stay strong on my convictions, cut cords with the past that no longer serves me, move firmly in the direction I have set for myself, surrender with bravery to the ups n downs of life, and to continue the work of evolutionary change for myself and the world.
