New Paintings › Coronation surfboard (2020)
March 27, 2020
Since I am forced to stay in Peru a few months longer, and I don’t have anymore canvases I can paint, I finally had the chance to paint (with @poscaoficial markers) my own surfboard. It is my first opportunity to visually express myself about our world situation. The central entity I painted is the current face Coronavirus is showing the world, scary, deadly and sucking life from the planet.
This globe is purging from this process, the liquids dripping from it. I don’t refer to the life’s lost, but it’s about the environment having a chance to regenerate and for humans to drop their superficial ego bullshit, during this introspective family meditation at home. Then the crown (“corona” in Spanish) of the creature is more of an enlightened divine face, which knows better why this painful process is needed for our collective spiritual healing. It transmutes a humanity that was sick and yearning to evolve. On the top part of the board it shoots a new, wiser and more mature planet that has united as one community from overcoming this hardship (cause we will, no doubt).
Always grateful for having art to help me externalize what I see and what I’d like to see in any life situation. Much gratitude.
