August 17, 2018:

I came up with this archetype a couple of years ago in Norway, as I was digesting my then recent divorce. Then earlier this year, as I was digesting my breakup with my girlfriend Arianne, I finally drew him on the canvas, at a workshop I was teaching in Thailand.
I didn’t have time to get too deep into that painting on that trip, and once it got home it wasn’t advanced for months, to the point I thought it would die.
But then, when I started traveling again, around Hungary, and digesting the breakup with another girlfriend (Tiffany), he finally got painted into completion.

The title of the piece pretty much explains the intentions of the painting, to stay focused, at this stage of my life, on my mission as a traveling artist, even if that can be a lonely path sometimes. It’s been a couple of years of hard soul-work too, wrestling my demons (shown on the right side) purging them, and building a pyramid of light force-field that doesn’t allow them back into my influence. Then on the left side are my 3 angels, shown as sirens, who have captured my heart at different times of my voyage, but who I also have to release. At the bottom is my ex-wife Valerie, and on the top part are my 2 ex-girlfriends, Arianne and Tiffany. The two of them are 20 year old south Florida special girls (crazy synchronicity), one who paints moons, and one who paints suns. I Love all 3 of them so much individually, yet they don’t seem to be meant to fit into my journey and also who I shouldn’t rob from their own path. It’s a bittersweet situation with so much love, yet the first love has to be for oneself and for the blessed mission I’ve been given as a traveling artist servant. My art expression becomes my therapy in the process.

“94 million miles over these devils” references the line in hip hop songs like E-40 the Ambassador and “Wise is the Way” by Living Legends.
