April 6, 2018:

For the last few years I’ve been dodging commission art as much as I can, cause I just want to paint the things I feel like expressing. But being back home for a bit is my chance to take on interesting jobs, while balancing out my financials. This is one of 2 carved wooden horse sculptures that I am currently painting (I already started colouring it by now) for a local store called @design_zola . I have already painted a couple other of these horses for them in past years/springs, which brings me good memories of that creative process and the lovely people involved. This time the horses have wings, which is nice, since I feel like I’ve been growing metaphorical wings myself in the past few months. Feeling really good and strong these days. I paid my dues with hard self-work in this past half a year and now I feel like a can fly by myself with fullness and self satisfaction. Being home, even if I’m working most of the time, has been really nice and healing. Though I get to see my friends I’m getting lots of alone time and a chance for proper sleep, grounding and integration of the new lessons of the road. Super grateful to be where I’m at and optimistic about what I’m manifesting for the future.

April 9, 2018:

On the weekends I make sure to ignore emails n office responsibilities so I can put in full days of painting, while I watch (mostly listen though) my favourite movies n shows. Still got to finish the other side of this one before I can even start the second sculpture, so lots to go on this commission, but you get the idea of how they are going to look. Pretty happy how it’s coming out. And a heads up to my Montreal fam, I will be debuting these while live painting at @design_zola on Earth Day (April 22nd), so pass by n say hi.
