Water colour.

I just finished this illustration of good people/characters facing off bad ones. It’s based on a previous collabo painting I did in 2010, but to the next level n all in colour. It is both a way to show the battle of polar opposites in our dualistic world, and a way to show my love for all these real n imaginary characters of our pop culture. It was done as a commission for Sk8 Mafia Skateboards x Laced Clothing, from San Diego, so my next step is to break it up in 2 layouts for Peter Smolik and Jake Brown (who are among the crowd). Hard neck breaking piece, but fun n love switching up mediums.

Side Note to Rat Fink fans who are getting offended at this light funny image:
I am a fan of the rat so I wanted to include him in the ironic group portrait. Though I know he’s not “evil” I didn’t see him as a goodie 2-shoes neither. He’s a rebel anti-hero monster, so putting him among the other bad asses seemed more fitting. That doesn’t mean I am dissing him or Big Daddy (who I respect tons). I am not judging any “bad” person, I believe we all have good n bad inside, this is just a light/fun art piece, not a statement against anybody (real or imaginary). Bottom line is don’t take this so seriously, and if you don’t like my point of view or art, don’t look at it, I’m not forcing ya. But no need to insult or threaten me…

Also, no need to start ringing up your lawyers n take me to court on this. Thats a lame attitude that goes against the anti establishment spirit of rat fink. The rat itself was based on Mickey Mouse. Culture builds upon culture and that is a positive thing that helps us find our personal expression as individuals (this is mine)! I am not a rich artist and I’m not making much money off this, nor that lil skate company (there’s barely any profit in skate hard goods these days). The Roth estate won’t loose any money from their skate sales neither. Peeps who would buy this board will buy it cause of the brand, or cause its Peter Smolik’s pro model or cause they like the general art or concept behind this composition. Nobody is trying to milk or make money off of Big Daddy’s creation, so please chill out and go enjoy the day, instead of hating on some lil artist that just wants to make people happy with his work.
